470 Junior World Championship - Teams from 13 nations and four continents have gathered in New Zealand ready to do battle for the 470 Junior Men/Mixed and Junior Women World Championship titles. The Pre-Worlds Regatta has been an initial indicator of form and included New Zealand’s 470 Olympic representatives who were impressively beaten by the junior team of Matthew and Robert Crawford (AUS).

Volvo Ocean Race - The trickiest and most uncertain passage of this leg began at noon this Friday, as the leaders entered the Straits of Malacca. Still bunched together within a six-mile zone, the top four boats are battling into an easterly breeze amidst a series of tack changes. The Costa Concordia is a cruise ship that ran aground off the coast of Giglio, Italy, after smashing into a reef and partially sinking on the 13 January. Clipper Round the World Yacht Race - The final three teams have arrived in Batam after completing Race seven of the 40,000-mile marathon.
Race seven has proved challenging for the whole fleet and the yachts have motor-sailed in company for the past week due to lack of winds and increased piracy risks, which saw the Race Committee deciding to finish the race earlier than originally planned.
